Photo Restoration

You may have noticed that the colors in your precious family pictures show signs of fading after only a few years. This is because the inks and emulsions used in the photograph have chemically reacted with air polution and strong sunlight, causing color shifts, yellowing and fading. Excessive and careless handling might have scratched the surface while improper storage in areas of high humidity can cause mold to grow on the paper, further eroding the image. These are just some of the environmental dangers for old photographs.

A typical repair job involves creating a digital copy of the original image using a scanner. Instead of working directly on the damaged photo, any and all changes are made to this copy. The original photo is returned to you unharmed.

Once the repairs are made to the copy using image processing software, any number of new prints can be produced. The computer file of the repaired photo acts as a negative and can be distributed to family members and friends. You can protect the photo from future natural disasters such as fire and flood by storing a backup at another location for safekeeping.
